We have met heroes who stepped up during the August 31st mass shooting in Midland-Odessa. One of those heroes is just 11-years-old. Aaron Peraza was at a birthday party when the gunman arrived at Cinergy Odessa.

Dr. Viola Coleman changed so many lives during her time in Midland. As the first black female doctor at Midland Memorial Hospital, she cared for her patients like her family. She never turned anyone away, even if they were not able to pay for their medical care. Her incredible legacy continues to live on today.

Odessa Fire Rescue battled fire using drones

With the help and partnership of the Texas Rangers, firefighters were able to see through the thick smoke to parts of the building using infrared cameras from the drones. Steven Gray, a drone pilot with the Texas Rangers, said that the drones not only help keep the firefighters safe but also helps them see if someone is inside.

The Arsiaga family lost a loved one to combat and then suicide. They are continuing their fight to raise awareness of veteran suicide, sharing their story of loss, hoping no family has to endure the pain they've gone through.
